Owner/Professor Wyatt Shepherd is a long time martial artist with over 20 years of experience. He is a 2nd Degree BJJ Black Belt and Judo Black Belt as well as a former professional MMA fighter. Professor Wyatt is still a professional Jiu jitsu competitor and is an American Nationals, AZ State, NAGA, and Grapplers Quest Champion. Wyatt has been coaching everyone (adults, woman, and children), from beginner to professional for over 20 years. He has cornered pro MMA fighters in Brazil, Mexico, and all over the U.S. in several different major organizations and has an undying passion for both training and coaching Martial Arts. Professor Wyatt believes that through training martial arts and a healthy lifestyle that one can literally change their life for the better and can find their inner strength and confidence to be all that they can be.

Owner/Professor/Coach Tyler Larsen is a dedicated martial arts instructor and co-owner of Ethos Martial Arts in Queen Creek, Arizona. With over 15 years of experience as both a competitor and coach, he holds a First Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Jay Pages. Tyler has trained under esteemed instructors including Carlos Farias, Mike Van Arsdale, John Botello, Mario Francis, Bob Karmel, and Daniel Brandt.At Ethos Martial Arts, Tyler leads classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, and Viking Striking. His coaching has been instrumental in developing both adult and youth athletes, guiding them to achieve state championships in kickboxing and MMA. As a competitor, Tyler has participated in numerous events, including Rage in the Cage, All Powers Combat, Gene Lewis Invitational, Fight 2 Win Pro, Grapplers Quest, Grand Canyon State Open, Arizona International Open, NAGA, Desert Challenge, and Desert Quest. Tyler’s dedication to martial arts is evident in his detail-oriented teaching approach and his commitment to fostering a supportive and ego-free training environment. His passion for the discipline continues to inspire and cultivate the next generation of martial artists in Arizona.

Owner and Professor David is a seasoned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner with over 12 years of experience on the mats. A proud Black Belt under the respected Professor Jay Pages David combines technical expertise with a deep-rooted passion for the art. His competitive resume includes appearances in top-level tournaments such as Fight 2 Win, NAGA, Grappler’s Quest, the Grand Canyon State Open, the DAN Tournament, and AZ Masters to name a few. Beyond competition, David’s true calling lies in teaching and mentoring. He’s witnessed firsthand the transformative power of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds gain strength, discipline, self-confidence, and real-world self-defense skills. Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or looking to elevate your game, Professor David brings a wealth of knowledge, heart, and dedication to every class.

Professor Angie Shepherd has been studying martial arts for over 20 years. She’s a 1st degree Bjj black belt under Jay Pages and a green belt in Judo under Wyatt Shepherd. She’s is our Ladies and beginner kids professor. In competition, she’s a 4x NAGA champion, and has won gold medals in every belt color in the AZBJJL. Coaching kids is her favorite because they are full of magic and adventure!

Professor Sean “Wing” has been training martial arts since 2010 as a competitor. He is a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Jay Pages. Professor Sean has trained under instructors John Munòs, Rhett Sandoval, Wyatt Shepherd, and Tyler Larsen. Professor Sean teaches No-Gi Jiu Jitsu at Ethos. Professor Sean has competed in various leagues such as IBJJF, NABJJF, SJJIF, AZBJJF, AGF, NAGA, Tap Cancer Out, Fight 2 Win, and Spartan Invitational. Professor Sean brings a set of unorthodox tactics into the Jiu Jitsu mindset.

Jon Geib is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown belt and current IBJJF Masters World Champion who has been training for over 8 years. After serving 11 years in the US Army as an Army Ranger and Sniper/ Sniper Section Leader Jon was looking for something to to push his competitive drive which landed him in jiu jitsu. He was immediately hooked and as they say the rest is history. At 48 years old Jon is still an avid competitor and fitness junkie but more importantly for Jon the mental benefits he finds from jiu jitsu are unlike anything else he has ever experienced. Coach Joe’s martial arts journey began in 2009 with Jeet Kune Do, Joe ‘Camel Toe’ Winstanley has built a well-rounded and competitive career across multiple disciplines. After a few years focused on boxing, he transitioned to Muay Thai and K1 in 2015, competing in bare-shin K1 bouts in Bournemouth and on Big Bang Fight Night in London in 2016 at 72kg, followed by a boxing matches in 2018. Since relocating to Arizona in 2022, he has represented Ethos in four Muay Thai bouts, including a title fight for the Arizona State Championship at 155lbs under Rage in the Ring and PFA. In 2023, he expanded into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning his blue belt in October 2024 and actively competing in local tournaments. Now a key part of the Ethos coaching team, he leads Friday night padwork and supports all kickboxing and Muay Thai fighters through their fight camps.

Coach Joshua has been training under Coaches Tyler and Wyatt for nearly a decade, growing alongside the community that began even before the founding of Ethos. Their mentorship and the environment they cultivated left a lasting impression on him, amplifying his drive for knowledge and developing his resourcefulness. Having spent his early life training in both Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Joshua has developed not only skill, but a deep appreciation for martial arts—its power to instill confidence, respect, and a grounded perspective on life.
Teaching the Saturday morning Striking class for over two years, Joshua considers it a privilege to give back to the same community that helped shaped him. Always approachable, always willing to support and see the best in others, The path of the martial artist is one that has transformed him. Without it, he says, he wouldn’t recognize the person he is today.

Coach Devon has been training under Professor Wyatt and Professor Tyler for 7 years. He is a Brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a 2nd Degree Black belt Kenpo Karate. Devon teaches the children’s Viking Striking at Ethos. Devon has competed in Rage in the Ring, WFF, Spartan Invitational, Naga, and PFA. He believes the martial arts are a lifelong journey.

Coach Antonio Esteban is an Arizona native born right in the East Valley out of Mesa. Antonio was an athlete in numerous sports growing up but ended up staying with wrestling in Jr High at the age of 13. In high school, he started training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Striking and Judo during his wrestling off-seasons after his freshman year for the rest of high school. Antonio then went onto to college after HS to further his education and wrestling for a program in Minnesota with a tradition of success and dominance at Augsburg University. Today he is a BJJ Brown Belt for Ethos Martial Arts as a student, coach and active competitor where he shares his expansive knowledge and experiences to his teammates.
